I have survived taking on that extra class! My colleague has returned and will be in the classroom this week. I'm so happy she's back (for her own sake!), and thrilled to be handing over that burden.
I didn't get much done this week, except planning some of the logistics for my research trips this summer. I hope to have more time to focus on research this week.
Goals for this week: I need to finish the review of a manuscript by Wednesday, and organize my European trip.

I still haven't finished my dratted editing, argh. My goal this week is to get it over with!
ReplyDeleteMy secondary goal is to choose a textbook for a lower division archaeology method and theory course, or at least narrow down my options. The more obvious choices all seem to be over $100 and quite new editions (so used availability is limited). I forgot how expensive textbooks are, ouch.

If it's a low enough level, the abridged version of Renfew and Bahn -- Archaeology Essentials: Theories, Method, and Practice -- runs about $50, and I think there's a cheaper e-book option as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm considering using it as my methods supplement for my sophomore-level intro in the Fall, as the one I've been using has about half the material and costs 50% more....
Hooray for everyone!! Very glad to hear your colleague made it back and that you are still standing. Trips sounds exciting. . . MB
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dr. Mr. P! I hadn't really thought about that one b/c of the "abridgement," but I haven't seen it in real life-- I'll have to take a look.
ReplyDeleteThey practically begged me to take a review copy, so I don't think you'll have any trouble getting one....
